This Year
Words by: Faris Jiwad, 11
This year
Was chaotic, stressful, a test.
Chaotic because the work we got was psychotic
Stressful because we all want to be successful
A test because you had to get dressed
Be the best
Get some rest
But not everybody was so blessed.
As the year progressed,
It turned into the wild west.
Deadlines, specific guidelines, read between the lines,
Don’t cross any red lines.
But…
If you made it this far,
Even it may seem bizarre,
You did it.
Whether you were in a room
On zoom
Facing your doom,
You didn’t let that stop you, did you?
No, no, no you didn’t
This isn’t a feel-good poem
Even though it may seem ho-hum.
This is a reflection poem
For all the days that you spent here
And for all the days that will shine a little bit brighter.
