Me, Without You

Me, Without You

Words by: Alexis Cortes Negron, 9

I don’t know your name,
But I know your motives,
Your thoughts,
Your disconnection.

You’re everything
You think I am.
You’re nothing
But a contradiction.

I say I’m a gay asexual,
You disagree.
I say I’m autistic,
You disagree.

Me, without you,
Is impossible.
You’re stuck with me
As I’m stuck with you.

But the difference
Between you and I
Is that I know who I am,
And you refuse to.

I value my friendships
As much as romantic relationships.
I value my queerness.
And I value my inner differences.

So why can’t you?

You, without me,
Are nothing.
But me, without you,
Is just a mere concept.

The world doesn’t
Revolve around you.
Nor does it with me,
But you can’t see that.

I don’t know your name,
But I know that I won’t need to.
Call it a day for now,
Because someday,

I’ll be me,
Without you.
