Book Review: The Schwa Was Here by Neal Shusterman

Have you ever felt invisible? Or unnoticed? Or even felt like you were disappearing? That’s what Calvin Schwa’s current dilemma is. Here are some things you need to know about him:

  1. 4/5 people can’t see him.
  2. He hates that.
  3. He wants to be seen.

Told through the eyes of his first friend, Anthony Bonano, or Antsy with a healthy splash of Brooklyn, this story is eye-opening as to what most of us take for granted. The book is wholesome, and fantastic if you’re feeling lonely on a rainy day. Neal Shusterman is a totally different author from his recent Arc of A Scythe series; he is funny, lighthearted, and the book just feels like a monstrous hug to the world (with a satisfying ending). However, there were a few low points where the story would just stop and take a nap, but other than that, I highly recommend this comforting read!
