AVATAR PROJECT

  • I chose this to be my avatar because it looks a lot like me. I chose the sunglasses because I’m cool and the gold chains because I’m rich and stylish. The striped shirt represents my fresh and clean fits.  I chose those sneakers because they look similar to my shoes. I chose the headphones because I love listening to music and podcasts and I chose the basketball because I used to play basketball in 6th grade and because I’m so baller 😉 The reason I picked this app is because I thought that the robots looked so silly. This process was honestly really easy and I enjoyed it a lot. We got to use a lot of our creative skills and we had a lot of workshop time. Overall this was a fun creativity unit.

NEWSPAPER PROJECT

  • Another project we did for Communication studies was our Investigative Journalism Articles. We first chose what we were going to write about. I chose to write about the behind the scenes of the Mean Girls Jr musical since I was already in it and I knew that it was going to be easy since I already had some knowledge on the topic. Then we were coming up with people to interview and doing some brainstorming for our article. After that we went around the school and started interviewing people about their experience with the musical. I interviewed people that were in the musical such as actors and tech crew. Then during rehearsals I took some videos and notes about things going on and also reviewed the interview videos. After I wrote my article I did a couple of reviews and conferencing with the teachers and eventually I submitted with my assignment.

CHILDREN’S STORYBOOK PROJECT

  •  In Comms, we were doing a project where we had to make a sequel or prequel to a children’s book, and I chose “The Three Little Piggies”. It took us about a week and when we finished, we had to read the book out to 6th graders. It was fun as they had to write down all the “figurative language” they saw in the book.

The reason I chose this book is not for any “nostalgic” reason or something like that. The only reason I chose “The Three Little Piggies” as my book, is because it was one of the only books in the pile I recognized, it was easy to complete since everyone knows about that book, and lastly because pigs are so easy to draw. One thing I will say though is, it was nice seeing a book that I remember from when I was younger. Especially writing about it to something that also happened to me when I was younger..

First in class, they made us write down some ideas for our book. Mine was about the piggies going through Covid 19. When we were done with the idea, we wrote down the actual script for the story. When we were done, we had to add it onto a google slides and decorate it and add pictures and our writing. Soon we turned it in then presented it to the 6th graders and did a whole aftermath assignment.

In my story (The Sick Little Piggies), the pigs found out about Covid and went to Walmart to go and try to get supplies for quarantine. The 2 stupid pigs were goofing off and buying unnecessary items, but the smart one bought stuff like medicine, medical supplies, food, toiletries, etc. When they went back home. They all got Covid. The 2 dumb ones got scared thinking they were going to be sick forever, but the smart one reassured them and told them to use his supplies to heal them.

I think that the lesson in my story was that you should always be prepared for what’s going to happen and that you should never waste your resources. I’m pretty sure Covid taught a lot of us over the year and I wanted it to be something like that. Relatable. Covid taught us a lot of things just like it taught the piggies. Which is why I wanted to reconnect in a difficult moment in our lives for all of us, and I want it to remind people that you should always learn lessons from your hardships and that you should never forget where you came from, because just because it’s in the past, doesn’t mean it can’t shape your future.
