Time Capsule ✧.*

Today we did a small project for the end of the year. It was a time capsule. We had to do a presentation on either something that has affected our 2o24 year or our 8th grade year. I chose the option of the 2024 year. At first I didn’t know what to do, but then I thought, what if I did something that is a true passion of mine. Brainrot. It was the perfect idea. It had seriously affected 2024. I think it is a very interesting topic to analyze. I’m so glad I did. This topic has been very fun for me to cover and easy since I have detailed knowledge about the topic. It was very easy to make, but there was difficulty trying to find the perfect images for it.

Then I presented it. I was extremely confident that I was going to get a chuckle out of the audience, and I started talking and acting very confidently. I presented it and it was great. Everyone laughed and got some jokes out of it. I think it was a success. I am very proud of my assignment, but I am very sad that this is the last assignment ever and that we are leaving. This is my last post. I will miss this class very much and I hope everyone has a good summer.

Pixar Story ✧.*

We had another project in Communications this month. The whole goal was to plan out and make a presentation about our own original movie. We got most of our inspiration from Pixar movies and characters. Most of the first couple of days was just us planning and watching mini masterclasses from the lovely Pixar crew, to teach us about their experiences working their profession and how we can make a strong story for ourselves. After we did our research and did some raw and unscripted planning, we were finally able to clean up all of our work and be able to make a organized planner about what we wanted t0 do with our story, where we wanted it to head, and what it was about. After we were able to finally clear up our work and get the premise of the main idea, we started working on our slideshow. I stayed up late at night and worked during my vacation to put the slides together, so it would be perfect. I was very proud of the end result, as I had put my energy into it. The slideshow ended up looking clean and aesthetically pleasing, which gave me a major confidence boost in presenting it. When I did present it, I was asked a lot of questions and my teacher said that mine was amazing.

My idea for my story was about 4 teenagers accidentally stumbling across a time machine that travels them back to the past. They reminisce about their old memories and get caught up in the beautiful wonderland, that they don’t want to leave. They try to change the past but its not helping them. Its only hurting them more and no matter how much they try, their past selves will still go through the same fate. They eventually realize that they need to let the past behind them so they can move on with their lives without their old mistakes burdening them. I am very glad I got this idea because it paid off in the long run.

Now I did have some struggles such as coming up with an idea for the actual story. At first I was going to make it about a bunch of private school kids gaining superpowers to win against the opposing team in a field day tournament, but I was unpassionate about that idea, so I scrapped it. There was also some difficulty with timing because I had a lot of stuff to do and very little time, since I started much later than the other students. I was also behind the class. I thought this would be a challenge but it ended not being that big of a deal, so I’m glad about that. I also had a major issue with the storyboard, since I didn’t know what to do, and I was having trouble coming up with something. I ended up staying up very late to finish that as well. It was all worth it though in the end because my storyboard looks great.

There were some things that were very easy for me such as making the character designs. I couldn’t draw so I used a generative A.I to make the characters. I even searched up on Pinterest about certain ethnicity designs so I could make sure I got their ethnic and personal features to be as accurate as possible. It was very fun decorating them like little dolls and giving them their cute little accessories and features that fit with their personality. I also really liked to give them their personality traits. I based them mainly on my friends and also from their experiences in the story. It was really fun. I liked this project.

Poetry Unit ✧.*

Today during Communications, we learned a new unit. Poetry. We learned about poetry terms and how they are used in common literature. We also made our own poems using these types of figurative language, theme, and format. I learned a new thing about this unit called a poem of address. It was about how some poems can seem like the author is trying to write a letter or address something to someone in the poem. I thought it was a very cool concept and I am very proud about the poem I wrote using that format.

A lot of skills we had to practice were using more figurative language and being more creative in our writing. I found this a bit challenging at first but once I got the hang of it, I was breezing through poems left and right. I think I did a pretty good job with my poems and used the best of my creativity.

Some advice that I would give new poem writers is to just be creative and try your best. Poetry isn’t something that has a specific way to do it. Poetry can be whatever you want it to be as long as you put your mind to it. Don’t limit yourself to writing something specific, try to write whatever you feel like writing.

I had a lot of fun doing this unit and I wish that we could do some more writing in class. Great Unit!

Ted Talks ✧.*

I recently completed a project in my Comms class where we had to create and present a Ted Talk. It was both enjoyable and challenging, but let me tell you about my process. Firstly, I had to come up with an idea, which proved to be quite difficult, but after extensive research about success, I decided on Time Management. I then researched the topic and completed the planning sheet. Next, I worked on my slideshow using a template and including the color theory of green to make it more persuasive. I wrote my script word-for-word like an essay and made bullet points on flashcards to help me with small details. I practiced assertive presenting techniques and rehearsed until I was confident in my abilities. However, I faced a minor setback when I lost my original flashcards and had to quickly create new ones. After more practice, I went over my presentation with a friend before finally delivering it. This project was one of the most challenging ones I have done, but I found it interesting and hope to do more like it in the future.

My Color ✧.*

I believe that the color which represents me the most is blue-gray, with the hex code #5885AF. This color embodies calmness and coolness, and gives off a pleasant vibe. The color blue is known to bring calmness to the mind, and the darker the blue, the more calming it is. I like this color because it’s a perfect shade of blue that combines calmness with fun energy like the ocean. I feel a personal connection with this color and it gives me a certain type of happiness. Blue has always been my favorite color, but this specific shade of blue-gray connects with me on a personal level. It’s a beautiful color that looks good with anything, just like I feel I can look good with anything. This specific shade of blue is a perfect mix of dark and light, and is aesthetically pleasing to look at. As it represents me in multiple ways, I think it’s my color.

The Cabin ✧.*

*THIS PICTURE IS NOT THE ACTUAL CABIN

About every 2 or 3 years we go to Canada, Usually during our visit, we leave their main city house and we drive to this vacation house which is in the woods to stay for a couple of days. It’s pretty big for a cabin which has 5 bedrooms. It’s like a basic house with a kitchen, dining room, living room, etc. Me personally, I just really like the independence and responsibility of taking care of a house. It makes me feel like an adult. Usually me and my brother, Lucas have to sleep in these bunk beds that are built into the wall. They are pretty uncomfortable but the blankets are so comfy. Usually there are a lot of things we can do there but we usually just go on our phones or play games. Some games we like to play are hide and seek in the dark, 3am challenges, or play in the lake. I remember this one time when we were outside and we went to the lake and grabbed some canoes to use. My cousin and I went on a canoe but we ended up swimming too far and then we got lost in the lake. We sailed for about 5 minutes when we finally saw our house and we swam back. It was really calm and peaceful during our canoe ride around the lake. We have the best time in the cabin and we always have this cool thing we do where all the kids make a really cool dinner and we all eat it and watch movies. It’s really fun. There are some cons though, such as that we have to bring our own food, we have to wait a while for clean water, and it also is a 3 hour drive, but I really love that cabin and I hope we can go back again.
