Sophomore Pranay Goswami, better known as Monarch, chose his stage name because of its relation to royalty. Having just released an album, Monarch has multiple projects planned for the coming year, including multiple singles, two mixtapes, an EP and a freestyle album. With all this new music scheduled for release, Monarch is hoping to live up to his name in 2020.

“I always wanted to become a musician, due to my mother singing all the time around the house.”  He joined chorus, which he describes as “a family environment.”

The artists that influence his sound and style include Nav, YBN Nahmir and Lil Mosey. Additionally, Monarch has collaborated with multiple creators throughout Loudoun County, such as Ryan McCauley, better known as Mac Wood$, a graduate of Rock Ridge High School.

The process Monarch uses to make songs is fairly routine. First, he starts by either finding a beat on Youtube or using one that his producers send to him. Then, he begins to hum to the beat to get inspiration for how he wants the hook of the song to sound. Next, he writes lyrics or freestyles and records right away. After recording, he mixes and masters the song and adds effects to the vocals. Finally, he either releases the song as a single when he feels the time is right or adds it to an album or mixtape.

One of Monarch’s producers describes him as “an open-minded person with much energy.” His producer also stated that he and other people in his group respect Monarch for his hard-working attitude.

Monarch has numerous big plans for the future. “My long-run goal is to make my friends and family proud, be a philanthropist and start an asset-based business with a part of my profits.” He would also like to gain recognition for his music and “beloved by all his friends, family, and fans.”
