Christmas Tradition

Sorry for such an offtopic announcement, but I want to speak about my holiday tradition in this post!

Whenever It is Christmas time, my family has a quick routine for whenever It is December 25th. First, everyone waits for each other to wake up and then slowly, one by one, unravel all the presents that everyone got. If I make a Christmas list or my brother does, we usually get what we want. For example, when I wished for new headphones for my Christmas gift, my mom had bought them and gifted them to me as a present. It also came with a keyboard, but I don’t use that because I have a laptop, haha.

Some days before Christmas, I have to help my mother set up the Christmas tree with my brother, such as putting up ornaments and more. We always have to spread the ornament’s out, and it feels like FOREVER when we put them up, all because we just have so many ornaments for every single corner of the tree to be decorated with. Sometimes, we actually have other little cute things too, like Santa Claus ornaments or more decorated ornaments than just sparkly spheres on a hook.

There are also relatives who usually give presents to us, too. Sometimes, I get basic things like shirts, pants, cards to make you feel happy or something even smaller. However, I appreciate the things that people give me, since my mom and father have such a large family tree, so many people know me and what to give me. Sometimes, I even go to my cousin’s house or my grandma’s house on other holidays, too.

Whenever I’m at my cousin’s house, there’s either two options. I go to my cousin in Maryland or I go to my cousin’s giant 4 story house. Of course, there’s no difference because I love both of my families individually, but whenever I go to either, we do the exact same thing. We celebrate Christmas, give presents to each other and even take pictures. On the normal, we usually just spend a night or two at their houses and eat together, also. Some of my cousins like to make food together for everyone to eat and serve it out all in a line like a buffet line.

Some of the food that my cousins like to make are foods like Turkey, bread, mac and cheese, fries, cookies, or more. They even serve out chips, crackers, fruit or sauces as appetizers. I really do adore my cousins and family, and we end up hanging out all day. Sometimes, I even get to use my cousin’s VR headset or play games whenever we visit them!

For my other cousin, she’s quite young so she doesn’t really know how to make dishes or food for Christmas. It’s okay though, since she’s nice to hangout with and knows how to do things in her family. I know that she lives with my dad’s mom too, and he appreciates hanging out with all of them, since he has such a close connection with every member of the family.

I remember, when I was younger I used to love the brand Shopkin’s a lot. On Christmas, my grandma always loved to give me and my brother tons of gifts whenever we were there! I really appreciated what she did for me when I was so young, giving me so much joy and happiness when I needed it. Nowadays, she gives me stuff more of my age, such as shampoo, cleaning material and more. Obviously I still appreciate the gifts and take them as my own, since I wouldn’t let any of that go to waste.

Overall, I really do love Christmas, even if it happens only once a year. It’s a special time for everyone and I wish more holidays could happen just like that. I love the days off for school too, since I don’t have to worry about waking up so early on a school day and I can instead relax indoors on a holiday break. Are you excited for Christmas this year?
