For my next post, I wanted to do a watercolor painting of a bird with plastic around its neck. Since I decided that I wanted the bird to be the focus of the piece, I wanted it to be drawn kind of close up with a blurred background. I think that this composition will allow me to show more details in the feathers and other textures of the bird. It will also allow me to bring attention to the plastic around the birds neck as well.
I think this will be a really good piece to challenge yourself with. It seems like the bird has a lot of details which I know you tend to stray away from with your looser style. I’m excited to see where this project takes you in terms of how you approach your subject!
Do you think you’ll be using color pencil on top of the watercolor to further refine the bird?
