Classes decorated 27 Sugarland grown pumpkins as part of our annual Literary Pumpkin fall celebration. We have characters such as the Panda from Please Mr. Panda, Pete the Cat, Searchlight, Creepy Carrots, and many more. Students have been admiring the pumpkins during library class and voting for their favorites! Book fair gift certificates will be given to the class whose pumpkin received the most votes, the principals’ choice, and the library choice. The winners will be announced on Monday.
Book Fair
We are just finishing up our fall book fair. This year we worked with BookWorm Central and enjoyed an amazing selection of books! Students shopped during the day and families were invited to shop during Monster BINGO. We look forward to another book fair this spring.
Garden Club
Our garden club has started! With the help of Master Gardener, Diane Bayless, the Garden Club began by cleaning the garden beds and readying the garden for winter. We have plans to expand the strawberry garden by moving some of the plants from the current area with the hope of doubling our strawberries! After harvesting more than 50 pumpkins, we pulled out the old vines and weeded the beds. It was a beautiful fall day to work in the garden!
Waiting on the Butterflies
We have been out counting and taking pictures of the Monarch Chrysalis’s. We have seen one butterfly emerge and are hopeful that we will see more soon!
Hello!
We are off to a fantastic start! Students have been busy selecting “just-right-books” and love the new reading spaces and fun reading buddies. The MakerSpace is up and running with activities and choices galore! We have a Lego wall, a Keva plank challenge, Q-Ba Maze, weaving, paper crafting, Boggle, Noggle and puzzles happening this week.
Big news from the garden — we found at least 20 Monarch caterpillars munching our milkweed! In addition, we have spotted 4 green chrysalis’s!
