…of the year.

Wednesday night’s supermoon, also known as the Super Worm Moon, will be the last supermoon of 2019. It occurred on the Vernal equinox, the first day of spring for the Northern Hemisphere

According to Space.com, a supermoon is when a full moon coincides with the moon’s perigee, which means the closest approach to Earth in orbit. Due to the moon’s elliptical orbit, its distance varies from earth.

The moon reached its fullest point at 9:43 p.m. EST, just 4-ish hours after the equinox’s arrival.
