Today isn’t looking like the best day for ye olde Hubble telescope as it was recently released that it has lost the main camera.

Key issue: The United States government funds NASA and NASA controls the telescope. Amid the current government shutdown, which is now over 3 weeks ongoing, the Hubble will not be able to be fully repaired. Further details may follow. Hopefully we will receive an update soon.

  1. This is so sad! Do you think they’ll be able to fix it before JWST launches?

    1. As of right now, no update has been posted on the condition of the main camera since early January, and that was just an update post on the nature of an impending government shutdown.
