Cuse is heating up. Georgetown tomorrow.

Frank Howard – Syracuse University PG

Syracuse took a huge name against no. 16 OSU a few games back and also took down Cornell and Northeastern in dominating fashion. In the big win against Ohio State Tyus Battle scored 26 points and Eli Hughes preformed well also. The return of PG Frank Howard has proved to be very meaningful to this team and they are starting to put everything together. Another test is coming tomorrow against Georgetown, a huge rival from the Big East days. G-Town is 7-1 coming into this game , with only a loss to Loyola Marymount. Most people would look at 6-2 Syracuse as the better team, but you never know in a rivalry game. High school star Mac McClung is a great athlete on Georgetown that can really spark a team but Syracuse has too many weapons to lose this game.

Fantasy Football is Frustrating

Keenan Allen – LA Chargers (My fantasy WR1)

Although there is one week left in the Fantasy Football season, in my main league with my friends my season is over. Im 3-9 at the moment which is the first time I’ve ever been below .500 in 5 years of playing Fantasy. The playoffs for my league are already set as well, so this is a pretty uninteresting week for everyone, although there is always bragging rights. My draft went horribly, as I draft absolute bust Le’veon Bell with the first overall pick, I also drafted other disappointments Devonta Freeman, Rob Gronkowski, Doug Baldwin, Chris Hogan, and the list goes on. Baring trades my team would be a straight trash can at the moment, but my team isn’t bad at all considering my draft picks. On the bright side, in a Yahoo league I am in that I found on twitter consisting of strictly die-hard Bears fans (I have never liked the Bears), I am 9-3. The league commissioner is a podcaster that talks about the Bears and he is slowly turning me into a Bears fan because I follow him on twitter, which I think is pretty funny. In Mr. Eifler’s Sport Marketing classes league, I am an outstanding 11-1 but it really means nothing as my team is loaded because no one pays attention. This is kind of a shame as I think it would’ve been fun if everyone was into it, but I’m one of the only ones. Well, I hope to get ’em next year I guess when it comes to Fantasy Football, meaning I should take less risks in the draft…. Why would you sit out a whole year in your prime Le’veon Bell? Just a question.

Syracuse’s Rough Start

Jalen Carey – Syracuse Basketball Freshman

College Basketball is in full swing, and as a Syracuse fan, it’s not going the best right now. Even though the team is 3-2, there is obvious issues and the team needs to work better together as a whole. I’m not quite panicked yet, because there is a lot of new faces and the team just got their starting PG back, Frank Howard. It’s obvious to anyone watching that in the first 4 games Tyus Battle wasn’t himself although he did have an outstanding game against Colgate last weekend. O’Shea Brissett hasn’t been what we all expected either, but I know he will pick it up. Other bright spots have been Freshman Jalen Carey and newcomer Elijah Hughes. Carey wasn’t a bad fill-in for the injured Frank Howard and Hughes has been a great shooter on this struggling shooting team. Syracuse comes into tonights must win game against no. 16 OSU with a dominating win against Colgate and look to get back on the radar with a win.

Offseason Baseball

James Paxton – Seattle Mariners

Moves are being made around the league. The Yankees are predicted to be major buyers this offseason and it has already started with the acquisition of James Paxton in exchange for the Yankees top pitching prospect Justus Sheffield to the Seattle Mariners. A couple other prospects were included in the deal from the Yankees. The Yankees are apparently in talks for superstars Bryce Harper and Manny Machado as well. It’s also obvious the Yankees should look into another starter to complete the rotation too. As for the rest of the league, the Braves are making moves in acquiring Josh Donaldson and Brian McCann, and they are looking to make a run with their young core. A lot of trade rumors are spreading around the league as well involving players like Madison Bumgarner and Paul Goldschmidt along with other superstars looking to find their way on a contending team. Quick side note on awards, all real baseball fans know that Miguel Andujar should’ve won rookie of the year for the American League, and the stats show it. As for the MVP, both of those could’ve been easily predicted although I thought JD Martinez should’ve gotten more recognition in that race, even as a Yankee fan. As of right now a hot topic in baseball is that ace Patrick Corbin is supposedly getting close to a deal with the Phillies, which is unfortunate for the Yankees even though it’s not a done deal as of right now. The Yankees are far from done with making moves and who knows how the team will end up.

Yankee Baseball is Over. The AL is way superior.

Unfortunately, the Yankees were taken down by the Red Sox in 4 games. The Red Sox are facing the Dodgers in the World Series and are already up 2 games to none. After watching these two games, while I was really pulling for the Dodgers, it made me realize how much better the AL is than the NL. The Dodgers wouldn’t stand a chance in the AL. Honestly, they wouldn’t even make in into October. It all started to come to me last night after reading some stuff on Twitter. The fact that a 91 win team is representing the NL in the fall classic is quite frankly, embarrassing. This is a team that arguably would’ve came in 4TH PLACE in the AL East division, trailing powerhouse like the Yankees and Red Sox, and hanging with the Rays if they are lucky. And this is the “Best team in the National League” two years in a row.Image result for red sox world series champions

A fews day later now, the Red Sox won the series in a dominating fashion. The Dodgers stood no chance and the AL east rivalry is only getting more heated between the Yankees and Red Sox. The Red Sox were playing the Yankees ‘song’, “New York, New York” during the celebration in the clubhouse. The Yankees want revenge, the fans want revenge, and these upcoming seasons are going to be something to watch. Look out for offseason talk in the upcoming months and the Yankees will acquire more pieces for next years run.

Introduction to Sports Spot

Hello all readers, my name is Matthew Sherry and this is my blog. This blog will includes a wide array of sport topics from real sports to fantasy sports. All my life I have been a die hard Yankees fan as well as a fan of all New York sport teams because of my parents. I also root for all Syracuse sports especially basketball.  I’m very into Fantasy Football as well, my friends and I have been playing fantasy football for almost 5 years now. This blog is going to be about 3 major sports that will include baseball, basketball, and football. Baseball is my most passionate sport and will be talked about a lot in the upcoming weeks because of The Playoffs (Go Yankees). The football season is in full swing, so that will be heavily discussed as well. Once March Madness heats up, who doesn’t love following that? So in conclusion, there is a lot to look forward to with the blog and I hope to take you along on the ride with me. Image result for syracuse basketballImage result for 2018 yankees

A little more background on myself is that I have been playing baseball all my life and love the sport more than anything. My future goals in life are to work in baseball and attend Syracuse University majoring in Sports Analytics. Another passion of mine is Fantasy Football, but as you know if you play Fantasy, it can also be something you hate more than anything. Due to the reasons that I’m 0-4 this year, in my future I want to get heavily involved in DFS (Daily Fantasy Sports) which is a week by week fantasy season, which means not relying on the same players as much. As baseball is the only sport I legitimately play, I also really like to play football and basketball with my friends.
