The most common type of music genre teens listen to nowadays is rap. Yet I realized that this generation’s music has its differences with all the other decades. The past week I decided to listen to past generation’s type of music, from the 90’s I mean. I have listened to lots in the past, but I decided to listen to it as a whole, without 1 song from the 21st century.
I’ve been listening to playlists made by people on Spotify and here are my top 10 picks for new people:
- It was a Good Day – Ice Cube
- 93′ Til Infinity – Souls of Mischief
- California Love – 2pac
- All About U – 2 pac
- Hip Hop Hooray – Naughty by Nature
- Shook Ones Pt. II – Mobb Deep
- Gettin Jiggy with It – Will Smith
- I’ll be Missing You – Puff Daddy
- Hypnotize – Notorious B.I.G
- Juicy – Notorious B.I.G
My favorite 90’s rap album is Illmatic by Nas. My favorite tracks are Memory Lane, The World is Yours, and Represent.

Following with the whole 90’s subject, I watched this movie with my brother 2 weeks ago. Friday is a movie about two friends, Craig and Smokey, just making their way through life. They’re both 22, live in the same neighborhood, and unemployed. The day is boring, but the hours keep rolling as they make many discoveries/challenges. My favorite scene was when Smokey came on the face of a guy who got punched and said “You just got knocked the #@%* out!” This is on Netflix, so you can see it too!
Does anyone have any 90’s rap recommendations?
