Frequently Asked Questions – Teachers

How Do I Login to Schoology?

Teachers can login to Schoology by using the Schoology link in LCPS GO, or by going to learn.lcps.org. When prompted, sign-in with your LCPS Google Account.

How Can I Send a Message to Students or Parents?

You can send messages to students and/or parents by either sending a message to the whole group, or by sending messages individually. Detailed directions for each option are available here.

How Can I Get More Training?

Training opportunities are available through your school’s IFT or through workshops available in My Learning Plan. Talk to your school’s IFT, or search for Schoology in My Learning Plan.

How Do I Add Members to a Course?

Students are added to courses automatically by the Phoenix data import, but if you need to add a student to a course temporarily, or if you are using a course that is not managed by the Phoenix data import, you can add students via the Members tab on the right menu.

How Do I Create a Group?

Teachers can create groups by using the Create Group button on the My Groups page.  Directions for how to create a group are available here.

How Do I Sync Assignments and Grades from Schoology to Phoenix?

Assignments and scores are synced from Schoology to Phoenix using the SIS Connect App in Schoology. Directions for how to use the SIS Connect App are available here.

What is Schoology?

Schoology is a learning management system (LMS), allowing students and teachers to interact and collaborate online. Schoology allows teachers to post assignments and other resources for their classes. Students can access Schoology from any computer or mobile device with Internet access.

How Do I Login to Schoology?

Students login to Schoology via LCPS GO, or by going to learn.lcps.org and logging in with their LCPS Google Account. Parents login to Schoology through a Single Sign On Link in ParentVUE. If you need access to ParentVUE, please contact your child’s school.

How Can I See My (or My Child's) Current Grades?

Students can view their scores for completed assignments by clicking the Grades tab at the top of their Schoology course. After selecting their student’s account, parents can view scores for assignments completed in Schoology by clicking the Grade Report option in the top menu of Schoology. While you can view scores and feedback for assignments completed in Schoology, ParentVUE is the official grade record of a student’s current grades. If you have questions about your student’s grade in a course, please contact your child’s teacher.

How do I contact my child's teacher using Schoology?

You can use the message tools within Schoology to communicate with your child’s teachers. Messages that are delivered through Schoology will be visible in Schoology, and will also be delivered to the teacher’s LCPS email account. When the teacher responds, you can access their response in Schoology or in the email account associated with your ParentVUE/Schoology account.

Is There a Mobile App for My Phone?

Students can download and install the Schoology mobile app on personal iOS or Android devices. When launching the app, select “Log in through your School” and enter the name of your school. You’ll be taken to the LCPS login screen and asked to sign in with your LCPS Google Account. Parents can login through the mobile app after first logging in through ParentVUE. Once in Schoology, you can set a personal Schoology password that you can use to login to the mobile app.

I’m having trouble enrolling in the Parent Experience to learn more about Schoology.

I Have Multiple Children. How Do I Switch Between Them in Schoology?

When logged in to Schoology through ParentVUE, you will see your name in the top right corner of the screen. If you click your name, you will see the name of the student’s attached to your account. Select the name of a student to switch to that account. You can toggle between your student’s accounts and your personal account at any time using that dropdown menu.

How Can I Set My Notification Preferences?

Students can set notification preferences in the courses and groups they are a part of by clicking the notifications button in the top right of a course or group. Global notification settings can be configured by clicking your name in the top right of the screen and clicking Settings. Parents can set notification preferences for email notifications related to their children’s accounts by first selecting the name of a student using the dropdown in the top right of the screen. Once your child’s name appears in the top right, click the drop down again, and select settings. Then click the Notifications tab to set your email digest preferences.

How Can I Reset My Password?

Students use their LCPS Google Account to login to Schoology. If you need to recover or reset your LCPS password, you can go to LCPS GO. Parents login to Schoology through their ParentVUE account. If you need help recovering your ParentVUE account, contact your child’s school.
