On Your Mark, Get Set, Schoology!

It may seem a bit early to begin thinking about next year, but it’s never too early to start learning about Schoology! Your school’s IFT will be sharing information about upcoming training opportunities at your school starting in March, so be on the lookout for more details.

Schoology Feature Highlight

Can’t wait for training? Want to know some of the cool Schoology features that you are going to love? OK, we’ll indulge…

Meet the Schoology Audio/Video Recorder

Whenever you (or your students) are creating content in Schoology, you aren’t just limited to text or images. Any place you can type in Schoology, you can also use the built-in HTML 5 recording tool to record audio or video. Imagine being able to type some text and also record a video of yourself so your students can access directions or teacher feedback in a way that works for them. More personal, more flexible, and (quite frankly) more fun!

And the recording tools are available for students also. They can choose to respond with audio or video any place they can type. More options for students means fewer barriers to learning and better access for all.

Get Ready for Moving Day

You might think of Google Classroom or VISION like your starter home. It’s familiar, comfortable, and you’ve built lots of wonderful memories there. But moving to Schoology is like upgrading from your first home to your forever home. All the basic features that you loved about your first home are still there, but your forever home has a little more room to grow and comes with everything you’ve been wishing for to make life just a little easier.  Your new place may even come with a few things you didn’t know you needed. Once you’ve moved in all your belongings, you’ll begin to feel right at home.

The good news is that moving to Schoology is not nearly as hard as moving to a new house. In fact, it’s easy!

If you are a Google Classroom user, your Classroom docs all live in a folder in your Google Drive. Schoology loves Google Drive (and we’re pretty sure the feeling is mutual). Google Drive integrations in Schoology make it easy to pull resources in from your Drive to share with students. You can even create Google Drive Assignments that make a copy of a template for every student, just like Google Classroom.

Moving from VISION to Schoology is a snap, too. Just backup your VISION course and download your backup file, then upload your backup file into Schoology. All of the resources and activities from your course will be ready for your Schoology courses. Detailed directions for how to back up your courses and import them into Schoology are coming soon. We’ll post them on the VISION homepage for you as soon as they are ready.
