I was two years old when I burnt my foot. It is a memory engraved in my mind, just like the scar on my foot. The night before Christmas was a rush of a night. I wasn’t feeling well and was extremely hungry. My mom was cooking some boiled eggs for me. I was exhausted from waiting, so I wanted her to carry me. To get her attention, I kept on tugging and yanking on her skirt. When that didn’t work, I started screeching and wailing. Rage and anger were racing through my mind.
Just then, my mom turned around, not knowing her hand was still on the pot. It slipped, releasing the silver pot from her grasp. The boiling water poured out, soaking my foot. At first, everything was dead silent, but then my foot started stinging and I started whining and crying for someone to take the pain away. It was as if someone had pierced my foot with a hundred staples. The pain was not only in my foot, but it had spread throughout my entire body. My mom lifted me very gently and placed me on the couch. Trying not to hurt me so much, she carefully took off my soaked socks. When she was pulling my socks off, my soft, pink skin was peeling away with them.
Immediately, my dad rushed down and called 911. The ambulance came with a stretcher. As soon as I got to the hospital, I was rushed into surgery. There were so many machines and tools surrounding me. Multiple needles were driving in and out of my leg. Just then, my whole world went black and I couldn’t recall anything else about the surgery.
I opened my eyes after what seemed like an eternity of darkness. Hastily gazing around, I saw my parents comforting me and telling me that everything was going to be alright. Suddenly, something caught my eye. To my surprise, a large, white cast was wrapped around my foot. I had so many unanswered questions in my mind, but I was tired and exhausted. After a week at the hospital, I was discharged. It was very hard to walk around by myself. I always needed my mom or dad to take me from place to place. A month had passed by, and finally, I was able to take the cast off. My foot was cured and I was walking on my own.
