#SBC2019 Week One: Avatars and “Wear It Pink” Madness

Hello from Mrs. Rombach’s Communications Class!

We have been incredibly busy this week. Not only has our team of ten students been tackling the first week of the Student Blogging Challenge, but we’ve also been coloring our school pink all week. The two Communications classes (mine and Mrs. Sheridan’s) spent the past two weeks developing, designing, and overseeing the launch of our school’s “Wear It Pink” breast cancer awareness campaign. Our students worked in teams to formulate campaigns and present their ideas and mock-ups to a faculty panel. The students produced posters and flyers to urge our middle school population to donate generously. In fact, our goal is to raise $1000–and the Communications students even worked with our librarians to make breast cancer awareness buttons, a gift with a $1 donation. The list goes on, and on, and on! Every morning, a team of Communications students, all decked out in pink, is sharing their custom-written announcements on live video.

That’s a long-winded explanation behind what will inevitably be some tardy submissions to this week’s blogging challenge (Sorry, folks!). Today, we had to figure out TOGETHER how to embed our Avatar Google Slideshow in our posts. At first, we were only posting links. That’s when I sent my class off to work while I searched for an Edublogs tutorial on “Embedding a Google Slideshow.” I found it…five minutes before the bell rang!

We have a long weekend, due to Columbus Day, so I’m hopeful that all my amazing Communications students will finish and publish their very ambitious blog posts between now and next class. If not, we’ll be a few days late with Week One, but we’ll still be amazing! 🙂 I hope they’ll also remember to fill out the Google Form that verifies their Week 1 #SBC19 submission, too.

This is what happens when you’re trying to juggle so many wonderful adventures at once…you surprise even yourself and come through with flying colors (exclusively PINK this week).

It’s Friday, and this teacher is two hours and thirty minutes from Feet-Up Friday!

Happy Everything!

Mrs. Rombach

What kinds of foods do you like to cook?

    • Hello Mrs. Wohlafka,
I like to cook all sorts of things! Usually I just help my mom in the kitchen if she needs some extra help while cooking supper. My favorite thing to make is probably tacos, and I think they taste delicious! Baking is more of my jam, though. My Nana and I love to bake when we visit together. I like baking from homemade recipes, but I have to admit, I sometimes use box mixes :). Thanks for looking at our class blog, we all really appreciate it!
      Happy Blogging,
      Anna Claire <3

Are you just going to New York City, or other places in New York? I live on Long Island, about an hour’s drive from New York City. I love to go to Broadway musicals. The last one I saw was “Cher”, and I’ll be seeing “Ain’t Too Proud” on November 3rd.

I also like to read mysteries. I am a children’s librarian, and I love to read! What are some of your favorite mystery books?

    • I, personally, perfer murder- mystery. I find it really fun to go along with the character and try to guess the murderer! My favorite author is Natasha Preston and my favorite book from her is The Lost. I think it’s awesome that you’re a librarian! Tell me more about librarian life over at my blog, Milky Ways With Words!

      • Hi, Miki!

I prefer murder mystery, too! I haven’t read anything by Natasha Preston yet, but I’ll have to try her books one of these days! It looks like you are already reading adult books!

One of my favorite murder mystery authors is Jo Nesbo. He is Norwegian, and so am I, so I read his books in both Norwegian and English.

I am a librarian in a public library, but I would really like to get a job as a librarian in a school library.

How do I get to your blog, Milky Ways With Words?

And I like the name of your blog, “Peppaluvsramen”! I just got introduced to Peppa Pig because I have twin granddaughters who are two years old, and they love Peppa Pig books!

What books do you like to read now? I am a children’s librarian, and I love to read!

I always wear a watch. Mine is silver, and it is a Skagen, made in Denmark. What brand of watch do you wear?
