In the past, people thought that the land between the Appalachian and Rocky mountains as the “middle” of the west. Now, it is called the Middle West. The Middle West is made up of 2 parts the Great Plains and the Central Plains. On the west are the Great Plains to the east is the Central Plains.  This is a picture of the Middle West.
