After experimenting with my first project, I’ve grown to like this realistic-abstract style that I had adapted through trial and error. For my next piece, I wanted to incorporate some colors that I usually don’t tend to use, and continue with this consistent portrait format. I want to base my projects around the topic of identity, so that in each piece, a part of the subject’s body will be obscured from view in a new and interesting way, while integrating both realistic and abstract components.
This is something that’s not typically your style and I can see how you experimented with different textures that could be seen “abstract” I think your little crosses or the colored blocks could be more dramatic. The first person seems more stylized than realistic, but that could be easily be fixed (Looking at reference etc.) The flowers could maybe use a little more fine tuning to make it more realistic, unless this is the style you’re trying to achieve. Another fun suggestion is that if you were to make the second option maybe you could cut out paper butterflies? Overall nice character designs! I can definitely see a lot of personality with the usage of your colors!

I do like the interesting color scheme you incorporated! I would suggest making the hair in the first piece, look a bit more realistic, and add more texture to it. I would personally also try making the rectangles pop out a little more since it is such an interesting concept.
