Lil Uzi Vert has been one of the most famous rappers who blew up in fame in 2016. Breaking many records, with releasing his first single, “Money Longer”, this song became a hit. Back when I had a musically, I found this song and I knew immediately this guy was going to make it big. Yes, I know he uses a lot of autotune, but you gotta admit that he’s got a good voice. A lot of his songs actually have meaning in them as well. A lot of rappers these days just talking about money and other stuff, but Lil Uzi is special, similar to what Xxxtentacion does, Lil Uzi’s tone uses emotional appeal with a deeper meaning of contrast. I’m intrigued by the way he portrays himself to the media because he has character. Speculations occur where he is thought to be a Satanist with pessimistic perspectives, but I like how the facades that with his fans. After Money Longer, he got featured on the Migos’ song “Bad and Boujee” along with the release of his hit single, “XO Tour Life”, he’s gotten many commemorations for it and reached #1 and #7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Another rapper that I idolize is Nav. Nav is surprisingly Indian who made it big with catchy songs. He has the best flow in my opinion with amazing lyrics made into his songs. Not many people are actually very familiar with him as he is known to be underrated. I remember a friend blasting his music on the bus and I was immediately catching fire to it, the song was called Myself and the flow and lyrics to that song are aspirational. He debuted in 2018 with his studio album called Reckless along with merch that he sells which I personally own. Reckless got on XO Records and Republic Records with a single called “Wanted You” with Lil Uzi Vert featuring. Yes, these two have made many collabs and they have a long history together. My favorite songs from these two rappers are “Sauce it Up” and “NAV”.
A couple of months ago, Lil Uzi recently posted on his story that he will be quitting music and he wants to wake up in 2013. This brought up lots of drama because Lil Uzi was known to be one of the best rappers out there and many people say he is considered to be the best rapper right now. He deleted all of his posts on his Instagram, then all of a sudden when I went back to check on his account there were tons of old posts. So I was just thinking, “Uzi wasn’t kidding huh”. He still has many songs to drop and he has way too many loyal fans. Nav also recently posted saying that if uzi is quitting, then he will too. I was bewildered with this, later on, though, I guess Nav was trying to release the new single album, “Bad Habits”, although Uzi doesn’t partake in this album. Nav also posted on his Instagram story that his labels, “DJ Drama” and “DJ Jon Cannon” won’t clear Lil Uzi’s verse even though he’s made a nice and long one, he also said that these two wouldn’t care about supporting new artists and are just mercenaries for money. There is a lot of beef going on but I hope everything gets sorted out because I would do almost anything to get Lil Uzi Vert back in the rap game because I am still hopeful. By the way, Bad Habits just got released last night which I am cranking to right now.
