Is College really making us successful? Are companies and corporations taking over our world? Is money becoming an issue?

These days, millions of kids are working for one main reason. To get into a good college because society has made us believe that that’s the only way to become successful. But do you ever wonder why? Do you ever wonder if what people are telling you is true? Let’s think back to the very old days in time when the school first became a thing. People needed to find a way to educate children.  People had to teach the children something so they can learn and apply that knowledge when they become older. That was the point of school. That was the reason why kids went to school. It’s not like a baby is born to know well enough how to read and calculate to know how to survive in the world. Long ago, there was no competition. But there was fun and people were happy. Nowadays, our school system has changed. Getting good grades seems to become more important than what we’re actually learning. In this article, I’m going to tell you why most of the things we learn are useless. If you disagree with me, then keep reading. Everyone in this world wants to become successful. Why? Because we believe that’s what makes us happy. But in your opinion, what is happiness. Is success the definition of happiness or is happiness the definition of success?

Let’s now travel to present day and let’s talk about our modern day school system. Why do we work hard in school? So we can get good grades. Where will those good grades take us? To good colleges obviously. It’s not just academic standards, but there’s also extracurriculars. Such as being the best player on your school sports team and hopefully winning some kind of trophy in a national championship. Or getting first place in a spelling bee, math, or science competition. Or becoming a leader in most of your school clubs, volunteering, becoming a part of a project or program, and showing school spirit. Or joining movements, becoming an activist, or doing any other big things that will look good on your transcript. So many kids don’t realize what they are missing out as being a kid because becoming an adult can get boring. Around 95%(or even more) of people are currently serving 9-5 jobs for an average income. Even if you are a lawyer or even a doctor, you’re still making around 200k-400k a year. I would say that maybe less than 1% of the world’s population are living wealthy, having fame and infamy, and/or have power and superiority over others. Parents and other people around us always tell us that getting good grades and having other good extracurriculars is the only way to become successful and so many kids are taking that one path to success. But, the things is that only a handful of kids like 5% can become successful when taking that path. In fact, with the research that I’ve conducted myself, I’ve learned that not even one person I found, has become successful by going into the top colleges like Harvard or Stanford.  NOBODY! NOT EVEN ONE! (I mean if you have somebody then let me know in the comments). All of the majors and degrees they offer you in college don’t convey you to success. Instead, they adjust you into deliberately becoming a normal civilian making an average income trying to fit in with everyone else. Sure, you can become a doctor and they can make up to 500k per year. My uncle makes up to 1m a year. But so do many other doctors. You’re not really special or unique when you make these kinds of decisions in your life. If we’re talking about society, the government, the economy, and the stock market. People who work 9-5 are only making someone else rich. I hate to say it but people are tricking, deceiving, and taking advantage of you. We’re all only a pawn to human society while the successful people who have worked smarter than us and have been able to think out of the box when they grew up to become successful, are taking our money, fame, and judicial rule over us. There are people living in mansions, with all kinds of vintage cars like McLarens, and have all kinds of clothes and accessories on them.

The college administration process is like a joke to me. It is bogus because there might be too much diversity. Keep in mind that I might be racist and stereotypical but colleges seem to be too highly focused on diversity. There’s usually one particular race is always getting good grades and always tries to make the applications good, then there is another race that doesn’t do well in their studies. Colleges have to maintain diversity by accepting some kids in that specific race that don’t do well and decline some kids in the race that actually do well. But one thing I like about some colleges(especially ivy leagues), is that they can tell if an applicant comes from a very wealthy and educated family, who goes to good schools, lives in a good environment, and has been mentored and gotten lots of support to get into a good college. Because of diversity, colleges make sure that they aren’t just accepting the highly privileged kids and they make sure they are also accepting impoverished kids that did not get these kinds of privileges but have worked very, very hard in order for them to have a chance at the top schools. You might think it’s a win-win situation for everybody, but I wouldn’t say that. Many wealthy parents, can have so much money, that they can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars and maybe million just to get their son or daughter into an ivy league school. You’re are allowed to do that since this country is a free enterprise system. Which means if your parents are poor, like let’s just say they make around 30k per year, they won’t be able to afford the tuitions for the top 20 schools in the nation. Which means the only way you would get in, is through a scholarship but in order to get one, you would have to be an extremely highly talented high school prospect and a very special and unique prodigy. Which is very unlikely, and even if you work as hard as you possibly can, you’re no match for people that are born with families that make around 500k per year. I understand that this should be somewhat fair, since wealthier families are rich and they have the right, but it just seems very unfair for the kid that is so determined and hard working. Everything people tell you like if you are well determined and hardworking you can achieve more. But that just might not be the reality anymore especially because of how colleges work nowadays, society has changed and money is everything and rich people seem to remain dominant while those who deserve it more are being pushed. There are just too many overrated and underrated people in the world and we need to all realize this and find a way to make things better.

That’s why so many corporations have the upper hand in this world with so much power. There are tons of fatcats and dictators located in some parts of the globe. Even though people like Bezos, Gates, and Buffet are superficially smart and hard working. I still feel like they wouldn’t deserve the dynamism as much as many other businessmen and businesswomen would. I would like to make a reference to the National Basketball Association(NBA), back in the days, the NBA used to be about teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship. Teammates and coaches would work together to win championships with heartwarming pride and spirits just like you would see in the movies. It didn’t use to be about how good your team was and how much money you had, it used to be more like how hard can you work and how much you can achieve with what you have. Teams were like families and they would always stick together. But, that’s just not the reality anymore since nowadays teams are trading their players like crazy to make a better team, players are always trying to go to other teams for higher pay and bigger contracts, players are trying to get championship rings, and teams and players overall are just trying to make money. The NBA is basically a business and I can’t say that the other national sports leagues are any better because they’re not. Next, I want to talk about the College Board. I have to say that they’re also a business as well. Trust me, I’ve seen it everywhere. Around 100$ just take the AP exam?! 50$ to take the SAT and ACT?! I know,  it’s not at all bad, but everyone has to take these in order to get a chance at any competitive college. Unless you’re going to a community college. But I want to explain and justify to you guys why I think College Board is one big game of Monopoly.

Sorry to say kids, but we don’t matter as much as we think we do. We tend to think that our college applications are carefully reviewed in detail. But that’s not the case. Since colleges get about 70,000-80,000 applications per year. So, it’s not practical to spend more than a few minutes on each one of them unless if you’re lucky. In fact, many colleges sort out the admissions process with an algorithm device and later put them into bins before anyone ever reads them. The SAT scores do exactly that for them. Every school is different, colleges have to make sure that an A at one school, also means an A at another school and that can result in a problem. Many kids nowadays are getting A’s and every school inflates grades differently. Which means that SAT scores are more important and an SAT from 2015 could be easier or harder than an SAT from 2016. Scantron tests are meant for a profit and it is being put in a machine which you know already. If you take the AP Exam, you have to pay the fee and work hard to get a good score, and that score is only a one digit number that you can send to colleges. Which is basically the point of taking the AP Exam in the first place and for that, there is a fee to pay as well. Which is very costly. Companies like college board do this all the time. In fact, they even charge you money just so you can find out what your SAT score was. It is gimmicky, cheesy, and sketchy. Schools purchase these companies because it saves time and effort and they can be lazy. Colleges are only favoring schools and themselves and could care less about students in school. Schools were designed to help kids learn, become smarter, and apply knowledge that can be useful for life. But from the way I see it, it’s all about how well you know your calculus and other advanced types of materials that most likely won’t always reflect in your career and will almost never be used in life. The head of the college board makes around 750,000k a year and the board of executives makes about 300k per year. If you’re someone looking to get into a stem field, you still have to do well in English and History (which isn’t too relevant for STEM fields), because it reflects your GPA. You are forced to take honors and AP in everything and get good grades in even subjects that won’t even matter to your career just to make your GPA look good or at least half-decent. I feel like AP classes in some schools aren’t even AP classes, especially depending on the type of teacher you have. These days, the difficulty of your class can depend on the level of class and the type of teacher that you have. Which proves to me that it’s a broken school system that needs to be fixed. There should be more teacher evaluations to ensure that the level of class that the student is taking matches the type of teacher as well because I feel like lots of grown-ups and school administrators aren’t aware of this major issue. Students get so much depression and part of that is through their GPA. Students should be given more chances because high school is only four years and junior year is only one year. Some schools are better than others and colleges can compare students depending on how good the school was and it shouldn’t be their fault that they went to a bad school and their parents couldn’t afford much for them, Right?! Schools all over the world aren’t really meant for learning, but it’s just a place to compete because it’s all a monopoly. Finland is successful because they focus more on collaboration and not just competition itself. Kids learn more and do better on tests and it’s a happier environment. Same for homeschoolers, it focuses more on actually learning the material rather than the grade and that’s what the school system nowadays isn’t about any more. What we need is more people to realize this and come up with solutions and strategies because this problem will never be fixed if not enough people are making their voices be heard.

All of this just makes me not want to go to college. I want to achieve more in life rather than going through this business operated society filled bandwagoners. I hope this motivates you to not go down the same road that 99% of people take and hopefully you guys can find another approach because I believe something should be done about this immediately.
