What You Need To Know About Sephora

Sephora, known as the guru of makeup stores, has a wide variety of hair, makeup, fragrance, and skin care products. The multi billion dollar company was founded by Dominique Mandonnaud in France of 1970. It was later acquired in 1977 by  Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, and one year later, it opened its first North American store. Now, Sephora stores are typically found in most large shopping centers, and malls. There are a few Sephora’s in the area, one in Reston town center, Jcpenney in sterling, Dulles mall, and Fair Oaks mall so it’s a prominent store for citizens in the area. Sephora’s logo is a simple black and white style that doesn’t seem to be that intriguing in all honesty; however their products beg to differ.

The staff is very warm and supportive towards customers that struggle in making purchase decisions. They truly do have the buyers best interest at heart and I can personally attest to that. Ravin (a Tyson’s corner Sephora employee) got me hooked to the makeup forever matte satin finish foundation and i’ve already bought my second bottle. I walked in and immediately received a warm welcome from her, and from there I told her I was looking for a product that is matte but not drying nor cakey and that’s exactly what she recommended. The staff always takes into consideration what skin or hair type you have before suggesting a product making sure it fulfills your wants and needs.

Sephora tends to have unnecessarily overpriced products, that 3rd party sites sell for much cheaper. Sephora sells a Laura Mercier powder that is highly praised in the beauty guru world, however there is a Airspun powder sold at all drug stores that does the same job as the Laura Mercier powder but with a very affordable price.  However, anytime I do spend a pretty penny I make sure it’s worth every cent. When I visit Sephora with the goal of purchasing something and I feel unsure about a product I ask a team member if they can sample test the product on me. Depending on a person’s budget, one product could be the same price of that budget. Sephora although does have many exclusive products that you cannot get at stores such as Ulta, or CVS. However, there are many dupes available that work just as good. I know Fenty Beauty is sponsored by Sephora and that’s one of their biggest name brands there. Fenty Beauty isn’t all that special for me because, all their products work the same as regular drug store products. People really pay good coins just for the name of a brand which is a waste of money.

The only things there that i’m willing to spend a heavy price on is their skin care and hair products. They have a wide range of skin care for a variety of skin types which is essential if they want customers to be intrigued. They also have very diverse hair products that I actually enjoy spending my money on because, each line sold takes consideration in to every kind of hair texture. Only certain makeup products are worth my dollars, if you’re on a budget looking for good makeup products at an affordable price I would suggest drugstore alternatives that work just as well. Overall, I enjoy visiting the store and would definitely recommend products sold at Sephora to my friends based off of my own experience.
