About Us

LIT Reviews Logo

We are a passionate group of student readers and reviewers from John Champe High School in Aldie, Virginia. During the school year (and when school is open), we also run JCH’s branch of Project LIT Community, a grassroots organization founded to help bring literacy and empathy for different walks of life to our community. We meet once a month to share great books, play games, eat snacks, and laugh.

Our mission during this school closure is to continue bringing great reads to our school community through our book reviews. We focus specifically on young adult fiction/nonfiction and we read books that allow us to expand our thinking, increase empathy, and learn about different experiences. Our membership is very diverse and includes many different voices. Please feel free to reach out to us!

Megan

My name is Megan and I am a sophomore in high school. I love to read fantasy and realistic fiction books while my cat tries to eat my bookmarks. Some of my favorite series are the ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ by Rick Riordan and the ‘Arc of a Scythe’ series by Neal Shusterman. A favorite book of mine would have to be ‘Leah on the Offbeat’ by Becky Albertalli.

Rachel

Howdy! I’m Rachel, a reviewer for LIT reviews. I use they/them pronouns and am a part of the LGBTQ+ community. I love to read classics (for that delightful homoromantic flair) and classics adapted for young adult literature. Most of my favorite classics are either Gothic or Romantic (Frankenstein, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and most of Percy Shelley’s work), but I also like to read Russian literature (I have, in fact, read War and Peace). I am a Latin student and enjoy Roman Poetry (especially Martial and Catullus). When it comes to YA, I can’t stand romance, but I’m down for anything else, especially fantasy; I love fantasy so much that I’m currently DMing a D&D campaign. I run my high school’s Project LIT Instagram, @jchprojectlit and have spoken at town hall meetings to defend diverse books. I’ve been an avid reader since kindergarten and plan on becoming a librarian once I’m done with high school.
