Being in high school, a lot of trends come and go and they can get hard to keep up with. One trend for shoes now is vans, they have been in style for a while now! Another trend is a sherpa quarter zip, these are so comfortable and many stores carry them like Pink, Forever 21. Patagonia shirts are also really trendy in the winter because of the good quality clothing they make!
It’s January which means it is pretty cold here in Sterling. Fashion is all about layering and accessories. One common accessory is a cute scarf. You can buy one anywhere, and they add so much to a simple top and jeans! Another thing I would keep in your closet is a pair of over the knee boots, they are really cute to wear and you can wear it with a dress or skirt to keep your legs warm! Another accessory that keeps you warm is tights, they will make it so much easier to wear a dress in the cold.
Starting on December 10th it will be the winter spirit week at Dominion High School. On Monday it is pajama day, so you could just roll out of bed and dress in pj’s! For Tuesday it is timber day, I would recommend wearing a plaid button up with jeans and some boots. Wednesday is Holiday dress up day, try to dress up in an ugly christmas sweater with some festive fuzzy socks. Thursday is a meme day. There are many different memes you could show up as Damian from mean girls with sunglasses and a hoodie or dress up like the arthur meme by wearing a yellow shirt and blue jeans. On game day which is friday make sure to come wearing all white to support the titans!
Fashion can be very time consuming and complicated sometimes. There are a few tips and tricks to make your outfits better and make your life a little easier. The first trick is to stretch tight shoes, take two freezer bags and put them into the shoes and freeze overnight this will expand your shoes gently. If you have shoes that are too small, put them on with socks and blowdry your feet. If you ever break a powder makeup product grind the product completely and put it back in it’s orginal container and use rubbing alcohol to smooth it over and let it dry overnight, it’ll work the same way it used to!
Fashion is something that people tend to struggle with, especially with little things like finding the perfect jeans, or not knowing how to get rid of that stain on your favorite shirt. Here are some tips and tricks to use to make your life easier. The first tip is to never put on clothes right after ironing, this actually causes more wrinkles, wait at least 5 minutes to decrease wrinkles! Also if you are in a pinch and do not have time to iron your clothes, hang your clothing up while taking a hot shower. If you spill something on your clothes make sure you blot, do not rub since it will cause it the stain to be bigger. Something I recommend always carrying with you is a tide to go stick, they can be very useful for a quick cover-up of a stain! Lastly, look for jeans that have at least two percent Lycra this ensures that the jean holds their shape very well.
Winter season is coming up so that means more clothes! A big part of fashion is layering to make your outfits more suitable and fashionable for the winter. A cute trend is wearing a skirt with a sweatshirt and long boots. Another trend includes layering with hoodies, for example wearing a hoodie under a light jacket. Some stores with cute hoodies and jackets to layer include forever 21, pacsun, and hollister.

The model that everybody got very excited to see on the runway was Ashley Graham. She is one of the few plus sized models, and she rocked the runway. Ashley modeled for Michael Kors wearing a colorful dress with a matching hat and statement sunglasses. Another statement look she wore was for a lingerie line Addition Elle. She walked confidently and beautifully showcasing a gorgeous line. People are so used to seeing the generic everyday models with little diversity, it was amazing to see someone break the standard for models at such a big event.
