My Family Tradition: Hanukkah

Every December:

My family gets together,

My mom, dad, and brothers.

Day 1:

We decorate the house with blues, yellows, and whites,

We make everything look nice.

We play the dreidel,

Hay, Shin, Nun, Gimel!

We light two candles,

The Shamash and the far right,

Because it’s the first night.

We open a gift,

7 more to go.

Day 2:

We light candle 2,

and we open gift 2.

My dad likes to make latkes,

Or potato pancakes,

To satisfy our stomachs.

Day 3 and 4:

Time for the menorah!

We light candles 3 and 4,

Only 4 more!

Gifts 3 and 4, best ones so far!

Day 5 and 6:

We watch a particular movie, on the Hallmark Channel,

“Love, Lights, Hanukkah!”,

As my mom brings out gifts 5 and 6.

Day 7:

We light candle number 7,

And open gift 7,

Tomorrow is the last night!

It’s such an excite!

Day 8:

We light candle 8,

The menorah is complete!

We open gift 8,

And just like that,

The Jewish Festival of Lights is over.
