Here they come

Watching you

Judging you

That’s not true

It can’t be true

How would you know?

I’ll talk to them

They only want to hurt you

They only want to see you fall

Are you sure?

Maybe it’s true

You have to leave

You have to go

I have to leave

I have to go

It’s out of hand

It’s out of sight

That can’t be right

What if it’s right?

Turn out the light

Turn out the light

It’s time to say goodnight

The Pond

The warm breeze hugged my skin

The setting sun peeked over the clouds

and the sky was the color of fire

My bobber got a tug

and the ripples grew with each passing second

like coffee spilling on a table

The grass under my legs tickled

as I closed my eyes and listened

to the sounds of crickets and birds

SPLASH!

My eyes shot open

I reeled in a fish

like a game of tug-of-war

I smiled from ear to ear

as I held up my win
