Ode to Spring

Ode to Spring

Waiting for spring to arrive

Is like watching paint dry

One day

It arrived

Like a lightning bolt

A flash in the sky

Flowers blooming

As beautiful

As a song

Straight from a blue jay

Breezy

Not boiling

Not freezing

Perfect

Like love

Rejuvenating

Like a cool glass of lemonade

Inviting

Like bait at the end of a hook

Spring has come

One blink

And it’s gone

Like a passing train

There one moment

Vanishing the next

Gone as fast

As it had arrived

Reflection

  1. I published an ode
  2. I chose to write my ode on Spring because it is my favorite season and there are so many things that I love about it.
  3. The tone of my poem is Admiring.
  4. The theme of my poem is that Spring is perfect but it goes by so fast.
  5. A. “Like a lightning bolt”. This figurative language helps contribute to the poem by showing how fast it arrives. B. “Like bait at the end of a hook” This figurative language helps contribute the feeling that Spring invited you to go outside and enjoy the amazing weather.
  6. A. I changed songbird to blue jay in line 10, because it made it more specific B. I added the phrase “There one moment, gone the next” to show how fast spring arrives and leaves.
  7. It was pretty easy to write this poem, because my favorite season is Spring and there are a lot of things that I love about it.
  8. I am very satisfied with my final draft because I read over it many times, and made many changes.
