We met a new girl today
Our group, together, laughter passed throughout
Our bright circle of smiles
She was different, stuck out
Forcibly foreign
Soon her foreign face grew custom
The group welcomed her with open arms
But they didnt see
Her slithering, coiling movements
Constricting them
like a snake
Her hisses soon replaced my laughter
And the slimy serpent soon replaced me
TheirĀ group, huddled close, snarled sweet secrets
Hushed hisses left bitter tastes on my tounge
and a pit in my stomach
The pit grew and grew
Their scaly skin soon melted away
They would see me, I would hiss
My soft skin grew coarse
I was different, foreign
Envy eroded my heart
Soon, I realized
I was a New Girl
