Alabama Abortion Law

Alabama gov. Kay Ivey, signing the abortion ban law.

Alabama’s Republican governor, Kay Ivey, has signed the strictest abortion ban into law in the United States, this meaning that abortion practices will get you a felony and potentially life in prison, even in the case of rape or incest. The law was signed Wednesday based off of religious beliefs. Republicans who agree with this law are hoping that it can overturn Roe vs Wade, so that this can make abortion a felony on the national level. The ban on abortion won’t be in effect until six months, and that is if there are no legal challenges.
