The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday was full of anticipation for the nominees and winners, along with a surprise proposal. Academy Awards director Glenn Weiss won for ‘Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special’ and during his speech, he proposed to his girlfriend Jan Svendsen. He said in his heartfelt speech that the ring belonged to his mother, who died two weeks earlier.

Some other winners include: Saturday Night Live (Director Don Roy King) for ‘Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series’, Game of Thrones for ‘Outstanding Drama Series’, Stranger Things (Chapter Eight: The Mind Flayer) for ‘Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series’, and Rick and Morty for ‘Outstanding Animated Program’.
