Welcome to our Classroom!

Welcome to our classroom! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with you this year, and I am excited to begin right away. I appreciate you taking the time to read this course overview and familiarize yourself with the expectations of the class.  Throughout the year we examine world civilization, literature and language. Our study incorporates a variety of genres including poetry, short fiction, non-fiction, drama and novel. We also evaluate the effect of music, film and art on the development of the world as you see it today. Each of these areas of study will prove important as we analyze themes and concepts and apply them to your own life experiences. This course is based upon the Curriculum Guide for Loudoun County Public Schools. The LCPS curriculum is based upon the Standards of Learning from the Virginia Department of Education.
