Rose Weitzner, HamSci

I am in my seventh year of teaching, and I am incredibly excited to be a part of the Health and Medical Sciences Academy at Tuscarora High School. I previously taught FaCS 7 at Trailside Middle School for six years. I am endorsed in Biology, Family and Consumer Science, Personal Finance, and Business Education. Additionally, I am a Certified Culinary Nutrition Expert.
My prior work experience is that of an anesthesiologist and small business owner, as well as the managing director of a trade association in the food industry. In both capacities as a physician and business owner, I was fortunate to be able to experience the joy and reward of teaching. As an anesthesiologist, I directly instructed residents and medical students in the operating room and labor & delivery. As a studio owner, I taught children and adults the fundamentals of pottery and mosaics. Although I thoroughly enjoyed both experiences, I especially loved working with the children. Seeing the joy of discovery on their faces solidified for me how much I truly enjoy teaching and imparting knowledge.
When I learned about the opportunity to become a teacher through the Career Switcher Program at Shenandoah University in 2017, I jumped at the chance, because I knew that this is what I wanted to do. I look forward to continuing to share my unique experience and knowledge, joy of teaching, and passion for working with students at Tuscarora. And, I am truly honored to be able to work with the future of our community and beyond.
