The 2020 Presidential Election: What Is the Aftermath Going To Look Like?

Protests in front of the Capitol Building

We are near the end of a very stressful and anxious election. With 2020 already being a tumultuous  year, voters had to choose who will best lead our country for the next four years. The two presidential candidates, Donald Trump, who is the current 45th president of the United States, and Joe Biden, former Vice President of the United States. With the election race, which was once close, and also having a lot of states struggling to choose between red and blue, America was in distress on who was going to win. Now, two weeks later America has got a general idea of who the next president-elect will be, and that’s former Vice President Joe Biden. Results won’t be finalized until January, however, but most media outlets are calling it and saying Joe Biden has won the 2020 presidential election with 306-232 electoral votes. The process of the presidential election consists of primaries, rallies, debates, and the final stretch, which is the counting of the votes.

There has been some talk of current President Donald Trump filing for lawsuit on incorrect voter number counts/voter fraud. The 22nd amendment states that the Constitution restricts presidents to only be able to serve two terms, which are 4 years a piece. From now and until January is the most crucial time for the election because it is the final three months of Donald Trump’s presidency, and Joe Biden’s time to plan as the next presidential elect of the United states. This period is also time to finalize the vote. Since the news broke, many Americans have been in the street either celebrating or protesting the results of the 2020 election. Election headlines have been all the same, an example including “Joe Biden has won the election, what does the future hold?” Now that results are almost finalized, with the polls favoring Biden, all that’s left now to do is wait until January, when Biden gets inaugurated.
