Quarter Three Blog Post

My first book I loved this quarter  this book is called Burning Enna made by Shannon Hale

The main character is Enna and the antagonist is her own self. What does the main character want?  Enna wants to protect the Isi and finn and all of her friends and only family she has  her brother ( he dies ).Enna can’t diciend if she should bury it and never let anyone use it or should she use it for herself.Enna uses the fire power as soon as the war ended she went and extinguished it.Enna fell in love with finn and it ended as she sit next to her best friend and lover.

Out of five, how many star would I give Burning Enna I would give four stars. Because I don’t like how the author doesn’t give much imagery. Until the end of the book I couldn’t tell how Enna looked until the end of the book. My favorite part is a small detail my favorite part is when Enna sells out orange eggs saying it a “Holy egg buy one today and bring good fortune to your friends and family!”I love this part because afterwards she got sent to the enemy nation’s king because the king needs some good fortune. I think this book is fantasy fiction because people in this book can use magic and there are kingdoms with kings and queens.

A few place readers can get their hands on this book is in the Meser library and the Gum Spring library. Also at bookstores like Million books. One family member that would like this book would be my sister Himani. One friend in my community that would like this book is my friend Mita she is in 9th grade. A reader who likes to read a lot of fantasy would love this book.I say that because in the book people use magic and kings rule the kingdom and orange magic good fortune eggs. Have you watched or read Ever After High well the author of that wrote this book so if you like that you might like her other books.

My second favorite book this quarter is Inside Out and Back Again made by Thanhha Lai

The main character is Kim Ha and the problem she faced was the side effects of the Vietnam war.Kim Ha want to fit in with people in the United States all the way in Alabama and stay happy with her mom and three brothers.People at school and at the cowboy’s house be mean to her and by looking at them you can tell that they hate you. Like at her school people bully her. And at the cowboy’s you can tell that his wife hate her family the moment she described how she look that them.Eventually she made some good friends and then pranked the bullies and they don’t say what happened but the bullies never came back but that’s good right? They In the end Kim Ha was going to school with her brother and then played with her friends in school and learn that her father actually died.

Out of five stars I would give four and a half stars. I give that many because I really love how Thanhha Lai write amazing imagery and the story is amazing. I think the genre of this book is realistic fiction because what happened to Kim Ha could have happen to anyone. At first Kim Ha didn’t  make any friends then as the school year went by she made a few friends just like her I made friends later in the year. One of the things I liked in the book is when she tells how she saves money. How? Well she gets ninety-nine grams of pork instead of a hundred grams and instead of four pieces of tofu she only gets three and three fourth. Lucky the book didn’t give us a suspenseful ending.

If you like free verse than you should read Inside out and back again because the free verse is amazing in this book. I think my sister Himani would also like this book because she likes Thanhha Lai’s books. Someone else that would like this book would be my mom. My mom likes to read book that have detail and that is in free verse. A place that you can find this book is in the Gum Spring Library. The type of reader that would like this book would be the people that sympathize with people it books that they read.

Disability

Who has a disability in my book? There two people in my people that have disabilities and the two people are Ally Nickerson and Travis Nickerson Ally’s Big brother. A reason why the author is teaching us about is because  she wants us to know how disabilities can affect people and how some can be cured. How do I know? Well by reading the book I slowly learned how disabilities affected people and why they hide it. I think people treat people with disabilities differently because they’re different so they think that it’s ok to be mean and that they’re are better than people with disabilities. A way to stop them is by letting them know that it’s not okay ad that if you hurt them it can scar them they feel like that for a long time because word are powerful and if they don’t understand that well we can’t  do anything about them and sadly happens but it will hit them sooner or later.

How can we spread a positive message about disabilities and create a more inclusive environment here at Mercer? Well I think we  can tell people how their words can hurt these people and they already are hurting them self and your just adding on to that so we should include them and make feel better.Hey maybe you would like them and they may be your new best friend! My Book was Fish in a tree.

Discussion Question Two

Am I more of a Ally, Keisha, and Albert? Well believe it or not I’m actually more of an Ally! I say that because I myself am very I could cry baut the smallest stuff like when someone is correcting me.I’m also very negative about lots of stuff sometimes I think negative about myself. And I’m not out going so many people don’t know me. Well am I like Keisha and Albert? Well like Keisha I am load to defend someone or myself self but like I said   I’m not out going. Like Albert I love learning but if I get bullied I would stand up for myself or at least tell a teacher. I most share interests and personality with Ally Nickerson one of my interests is art.

Book Club Meeting One

Ally’s teacher Mr.Daniels watch, listening, and stopping her from getting in trouble and making her do work that involve reading and write. So I predict that Ally will give up on try to hide the fact that she can’t read and write and tells Mr.Daniels that she can’t read or write just to find out that Mr.Daniels already knows.

The book I’m reading is Fish in a Tree the author is Lynda Mullaly Hunt

Hide and Seek

“ AHHHH!!” I screamed. “Lora is missing!”  Half an hour earlier.

So me and my sister were home alone watching my pet Lora she was a tortoise but she was fast. With in my amber colored living room sat me, my sister Himani, and Lora.

After a while Himani said “ Hey Bhavya I’m hungry make me Ramen noodles.”

I screamed “Why should I ?!” But then suddenly I noticed that Lora was gone then I told Himani and we started to look around.

We stopped and started to bicker

“Where in the world could she be?” I asked worried.

With a loud voice and putting on an angry face Himani screamed “How should I know!”

Calmly I said “Well let’s look for her.” without any thing to say she flipped her dark chocolate hair in my FACE and started to join me in my quest to find Lora.

Then we started to look in the weirdest places like in the sink, on the stove under the bed all though that’s not really a weird place to look. It felt like we looked everywhere but I know we just didn’t. We had no luck finding her.

I started to give up and shouted “This is your fault!”

She said back “No it’s yours.”

A second later Himani asked “Did you look under the couch?”

“Yes I did,” I mumbled back to make her shut up.

Himani went back to looking with a confused face I figured I should look too.

After Himani gave up I decided to sit down because I wanted a break. So I fell over the side but my legs held on to Himani’s arm. I opened my eyes hoping magicly I would see Lora. Than I saw a navy green and shamrock colored shell I realised that it was a tortoise not any tortoise it was Lora.

I quickly screamed “Himani I found her I found her!”

Then Himani came over causing me to fall and said “ I told you to look there.”

I said calmly “Whatever, since we found her lets watch T.V. and eat noodles.”On the side of the coach.

she said “You can do it because it’s your fault this happened,”

“ What! My fault, it’s your fault!” Angeryly I complained. Then another argument happened. I’m just glad we never gave up or else she would still be lost under the coach.
