My Traditions!

     For my tradition, my family puts up the fake christmas tree. My brother is allergic to real trees (Party pooper) and so we had to buy this tree. We always have fun putting up the tree and the decorations, though we can’t put any near the bottom of the tree because my smaller dog will snatch them up and ruin them! The tree sometimes has little “nests” or places where branches are clumped together and so me and my brother sometimes hide the smaller, more bird-themed ornaments in those little hidey places. My family never buys new ornaments unless they signify something because all the ornaments that we do have all mean something to the family. Everything on the tree means something. The handprint molds are from both me and my brother’s first Christmas. The horse painting ornament is from my IEA competitions. The little angels made of dyed straw and wood are a gift from my Aunt Jenny who lives in Africa. We have a few very fragile glass ornaments that I do not know the origin of. But all in all, the christmas tree, even though it is fake, is still very important to me and my family. 🙂

So, last Sunday, we got a few adoptions. The dogos were sadly not here then. But on the cat side of HART, we (Me and another volunteer) were able to meet the two newest members at the cat house! Introducing…… Jiji and Nicky! Jiji is a pitch-black male who is quite feisty (Though it might just be the catnip) Meanwhile Nicky is a sweet loving girl who has had several people interested in her! A family came by looking at Nicky, but I think they might just fall for Jiji! Poor Pistachio Nut is still there, so if you are looking for a sweet old kitty, please send an adoption form for Pistachio! Bye!

Well, last Sunday, one of the Many Colors Litter got adopted! Send your love to…..Marble!!! The sweet heart, older brother of the litter recently found a forever home with someone and we are just so happy! In other news, Pistachio, the sweet older kitten, has recently lost weight and his paw is now no longer swollen! The twins, Lady and Baron are doing better than ever, and Lady finally got out of her den and into the viewing window! The sweetie is still nervous, but is getting better and better! And in the dog adoptions nearby, an other puppy got adopted and is now living the life with his new family!!

• I love to write. Writing is just a part of life for me, I couldn’t really go without it. Ideas pop up constantly for new books or new characters, then disappear as soon as they come. I love thinking up backstories for characters, though I can always improve. While there are many ways I can improve my writing, the main factor is keeping things interesting, while at the same time, keeping things not too action related. 

• I am a doodle addict. No, not the dog, but they are really cute. I mean the drawing type of doodle. I can’t go one class without drawing on papers, one test without doodling on the sides, or even take a note without scribbling a little dragon holding up the words. I doodle how I feel at the moment or metaphors for how I feel about a class. So, if you look at my biology papers, you will see peaceful landscapes, while in math, a war scene. 

• Speaking of biology, I am kind of a biology nerd. I love studying how different organisms act around each other, food chains, and life cycles.  I find relationships between different organisms fascinating and if I see an opportunity to study, for example, whether mice like sunlight or darkness better, I’ll take it! Real quick fun fact: Axolotls can regrow their BRAINS.

• I was talking about mice in my last paragraph, which leads to fact 4. I love things people find creepy. Mice, snakes, lizards, aye-ayes, heck, certain spiders are cute to me. Don’t even get me started on ants. But, even though I am not scared of them, I still pay respect to them. Snakes can be poisonous, and even then, they can have harmful effects if you are bitten. Mice can carry fleas or ticks or even diseases. Spiders can also be poisonous, if not creepy. And even ants can leave a sting if their nest is threatened. This means that I need to be careful while observing or going near them. Still, I would love to see an ogre spider any day!

• Family is SUPER important to me. Without family, who am I? My parents are more often than not happy to help me with homework or study, my brother is pure entertainment (You should’ve seen him eat ghost pepper hot sauce!) and not helpful help (Yeah, in order to solve what x equals, I need to do the math. Thanks Char.), and my dogs are always there when I need someone to vent to since I refuse to go to a therapist. I am an older child, so I am third in charge. My younger brother, Charlie, loves to annoy me and start not-arguments. Sometimes I pick on him, but it is always in a playful way. We never really fight-fight too much, and when we do, we always forget about it either by the end of the day, or Mom tells us to stop being annoying

• Puppies will always have a place in my heart. I love dogs. Any dog. Seriously, unless they hurt someone in my family or threaten to, I love them. My two dogs, Jackie and Maverick are my favorite though. Jackie is a sweet, old dog who is getting frailer by the week. Maverick is an energetic, younger dog who keeps Jackie running around like a puppy. Jackie, at age 15, is almost never grumpy and loves to pretend he is a lap dog. Maverick, at age 3, is almost always grumpy and never sits on your lap. Maverick gets grumpy in a different way than you would think. When Maverick gets grumpy, he gets bored. And when he is bored, he loves to bark at the air. And he is part chihuahua, so his barks are ear-spitting. Jackie is a bigger dog, and he doesn’t often bark, but when he does, it is LOUD. But even when they are barking their heads off, I still love them.

• Relating to paragraph 5, friends are basically family to me. If you are loyal, kind, respect me and my family, and respect my other friends, then we will become fast friends. For me, if one of my friends is hurt, physically or emotionally, I will try to help. I try my best to listen to my friends, but sometimes I get a little too loud. They always help me though, no matter what. But if something happens and a friend hurts another friend or a member of my family, then I will not socialize with them anymore. People who betray my trust don’t deserve my trust. I have had several times where this happened, and everytime it hurts to stop being friends with them, but I know that it was a good choice. 

• Here’s a not so fun fact about me. I have extreme anxiety. Social anxiety is my biggest anxiety. I often get panic attacks in large social gatherings or important events. But it’s not always during social situations that I get attacks. Once, I was at the top of a lighthouse when I got a panic attack since I was so high and I could see through the stairs. I couldn’t get down though, since I could see through the stairs and we were high up. So I was basically trapped. Yeah. Not great.

• I am a grammar psychopath. If I see a sentence with an uncapitalized I or a lowercase name, I go nuts. That is why I don’t read texts from my little brother. If I am there, watching someone mess up, I will attempt to tell them in the most polite way possible, because I understand that it is annoying when people correct you sometimes.

• I’m a purple butterfly. No, this is not some kind of butterfly or group or something, it is a code, I guess, for people who’s twin or triplet died in either birth or the womb. For me, my twin died when I was the size of the jellybean, so we just sorta morphed together. When I tell people, they either say sorry or that it is sad. But really, it isn’t. I didn’t even know my twin and, in a way, I am my own twin. Plus, since I am a combined twin (Not conjoined, that is very different) there can be cool side effects. For starters, there is a chance that I can be the aunt to one of the kids that I gave birth to since some of my twin’s DNA is in me. Cool right?
