Bookopoly is well under way. It is awesome to see how much our Farmwell students are reading. One of the sidequests a student may choose to complete is writing a brief book review. It’s always interesting to see what books students are enjoying. Here are just some of the reviews we’ve had submitted to us so far.
All reviews are posted as they were submitted to us; the only changes we have made are to format them for the blog. All grade/age level recommendations for the books come from the student who submitted the book review.
Title: Guts by Raina Telgemeier
Rating: 4/5
Review: I love graphic novels and Raina is one of my favorite authors. I recommend this book because the picture very come to life, also cause the book is relatable. Raina’s books are made from things that happen to her before. Reading this book made feel like I wasn’t the only one who actually felt that way.
Recommended for: 3rd grade all the way to 7th grade

Title: Heartless by Marissa Meyer
Rating: 4/5
Review: Heartless is about an 18-year-old girl named Lady Catherine Pinkerton, better known as Cath who lives in Hearts. The King of Hearts is in love with Cath, but Cath’s like the court jester, Jest, instead. I like this book because I love fantasy and fairy tale remakes. If you liked Red Queen or The Lunar Chronicles, you will probably also like this book.

Another sidequest challenge students may choose to do is create a book trailer using only copyright-safe media (images, video clips, music) in addition to an image of the book cover. As long as we keep getting book trailer submissions we hope to highlight one student book trailer a week. This was the first book trailer for the book Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25 by Richard Paul Evans submitted to us by student H.A.B.
All links go to the IPAC so you may get more information about the book. Although recommendations and reviews from your fellow students can be great tools to use when deciding what you want to read, as always use your own best judgement about whether a book is good fit for you.
