Our next suspect is Mr. Ameen, one of our assistant principals!
Our students have logged 213 books (183 books + 30 books in the x2 bonus genre for a total of 243 towards unlocking clues). That means Farmwell students have unlocked 4 clues so far! The bonus genre will be changing on Monday, March 22, so if you want those bonus points for reading a mystery, there are only a few days left before a different genre will give the x2 bonus.
Today’s suspect is Mr. Shirley, one of our Tech Ed teachers!
Farmwell students have logged 184 books (156 + 28 in the x2 bonus genre for a total of 212 towards unlocking clues). Only 13 more books needed to unlock the next clue! Students have unlocked 3 clues so far.
Today’s suspect is Mrs. Kendrick, one of our 6th grade English teachers!
Farmwell students have logged 164 books (137 books + 27 in the x2 bonus genre for a total of 191 towards unlocking clues). Only 34 more books needed to unlock the next clue. Farmwell students have unlocked 3 clues so far!
The first two suspects are Mrs. Weaver, our bookkeeper, and Mrs. Loftus, one of our 7th grade English teachers!
So far, Farmwell students have logged 77 books plus 14 more books in the current bonus genre (mystery). They’ve also unlocked 1 clue and only need to log 20 more books to unlock the next clue!
On March 8, we launched our schoolwide mystery reading activity,“Where is Oreo?”!
Farmwell’s beloved bunny, Oreo, has gone missing! Farmwell students need to help Detective Ivy and her library staff assistants find who took her and where they’re hiding her. By reading and logging books, students can earn digital badges, be entered in random weekly prize drawings, and help unlock clues. Once all of the clues are unlocked, students will be able to solve the mystery of Where is Oreo?
With the threat (or anticipation) of snow upon us, I am reminded of a book I read a few years ago that is the perfect read for a snowy day, Greenglass House by Kate Milford. There’s something timeless and atmospheric about the story that makes it a perfect wintery read!
Milo and his parents run an inn, but there are never travelers over winter break, so they get to have a bit of a vacation around Christmas. Except this year, first one, then two, then more travelers arrive in the midst of a snow storm. Who are they? Why have they all shown up at the inn now, a traditionally slow time of year? Why do they each seem secretive and mysterious in their own ways? And most of all, what do they want with Greenglass House? Part mystery, part something else. If you’re a fan of Lemony Snicket, The Mysterious Benedict Society, or Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library, you might enjoy this book.
Here’s a book trailer for it that I found:
You can read the Google Books sample to get a taste of the story for yourself by clicking on the book’s cover.
