What to Read Next? Try NoveList

I know many of you kept “some day” reading lists in your language arts classes, lists of books that you might like to read some day. Now is a great time to get those lists out and start reading some of those books and checking them off that list! See if we have them in MackinVIA or check if the public library has them in Overdrive or Hoopla Digital.

I like to keep a list of books I want to read. If I don’t add it to a list, I might forget about it the next time I’m looking for something to read. I use a website designed just for the purpose of keeping track of the books you have already read and the books you want to read, but you don’t need a fancy website for that. You can keep track in a Google Doc, Google Sheet, a notes app on your phone, or even a paper journal. Anything that helps you remember the books you are interested in reading will work.

If you’re ever stuck trying to come up with something to read, you can try using NoveList, one our library databases, to give you ideas. NoveList allows you to search up a book, author, or series that you’ve already read and liked, and it will give you suggestions of other things you might like and the reasons why it thinks you might like them.

To access it, log in to LCPS GO and open the “Library Resources” folder.

  1. Click on EBSCO All Databases EBSCO All Databases
  2. Under “Select Resources”, choose “Novelist K-8” NoveList k-8

If you find anything that looks interesting in NoveList, add it to your “some day” list, whatever format you choose for that list to be!
