100 Word Challenge / March 5

I had never seen a wave this big before. I had a frightening look on my face, but I tried to hide it as I unsteadily swam up to it. I jumped on my board and turned. I thought I had it, but then I slipped. I wish I could just grab onto a balloon and float to the sand, but I couldn’t. I hit the water with a tremendous force. Kicking  vigorously, I tried to make it to the surface, but my legs were too weak. All I could remember was the reddish-brown water slowly closing me in.

I’ve always wanted to go surfing. This has never happened to me, and I hope it doesn’t when I eventually do try to surf. If you guys have ever been surfing, or are interested, comment! See you guys next time. Have a wonderful wonderful week!

  1. Marissa-

You went dark this week, eh? I really enjoyed your first-person telling of a surf adventure gone deadly wrong. My single suggestion is to flip some of your wording, so you vary how you begin your sentences. “Trying to hide the frightening look on my face, I swam…” It doesn’t require changing vocabulary–only moving around the words. 🙂 Give it a whirl this coming week. 🙂

I’ve never been surfing, and, after reading your 100WC, I don’t think I’ll be trying it out anytime soon.:o

    Cheers,
    Mrs. Rombach
