Bergamasco Sheepdog!

This week we have a bit of a strange dog, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t totally awesome! The Bergamasco Sheepdog is a relatively large dog with good levels of energy. Their coat might make them unattractive to some dog owners but they have tons of pros! First, these dogs are hypoallergenic, which means they are great dogs for those with allergies. Of course that doesn’t mean they are allergy free, but they will certainly do a lot better than a high shedding breed like a golden retriever. They also respond amazingly well to training and are eager to please. These dogs are currently ranked 184th by the American Kennel club. The fascinating thing about these dogs is their hair. They have three coats, the foremost one forming mats that give the dog the appearance of growing dreadlocks.

These puppers require good nutrition like all dogs, and because their coat is so unique it doesn’t require much effort to maintain. The effort with this dog comes in giving them the exercise they need. If you are active and are ready to take your dog with you they will be mentally and physically great! These dogs are also generally healthy. It was only recognized by the AKC in 2015 which is one of the reasons why it is ranked so low. They come in two colors and one marking making them a pretty standard breed. If you are looking for a unique looking dog that stands out in the crowd check out the Bergamasco Sheepdog!
