Despite their reputation, the American Pit Bulls actually became increasingly popular as “nanny dogs” because they are extremely gentle around children.
Then name “Pit bull” derives from their ability to bait bulls into chasing them, but the name itself isn’t an official breed. It simply refers to a group of breeds with similar features such as the American Pit Bull Terrier, The American Staffordshire Terrier, and various Pit mixes.
Pit Bulls have great mental and physical capabilities, but they require a lot of play to keep them from getting anxious when they are young, and this is what leads to their behavior that many attribute to their breed alone. Often the actions of Pit Bulls are the result solely of their owners.
They are extremely determined and eager to please, so it is important to set their minds to helpful tasks such as showering people with kisses and performing tricks!
One of the most important things to remember is the intense love that all Pit Bulls have for Humans. They are caring, loving, and amazing creatures who have become the victim of stigma and awful people. They don’t deserve the treatment they get, and we don’t deserve the love that they give.
