Plazas are filled with acrobats, snake charmers, fortune tellers, and musicians to grab your attention. There are wonderful street performers with magic tricks. Visit the bazaar and buy local handicrafts, traditional rugs, and spices. It is said that the leatherwork, called maronquinerie, sold in bazaars is one of the softest in the world. If you plan on buying, get ready to negotiate for the best price! One of the most famous bazaars in Marrakech is the Djemaa El Fna.

There are plenty of museums to go visit while you are there. There is the Marrakech Museum, Dar Si Said Museum, and the Museum of Islamic Art. Le Jardin Secret is an old palace built in the 19th century. There are small linked gardens that are completely enclosed. Walk through the gardens and enjoy the beautiful native flora.  

The food in Marrakech uses lots of spices. A traditional dish is  tanjia marrakshia. It is prepared with beef, spices, and is slow cooked in the oven with hot ashes. Common spices that are used are cumin, peppers, saffron, turmeric, and ras el hanout. Lamb, chicken, and shrimp are common meats found in Morocco.
