PSAT

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) will be offering the PSAT 8/9 (Preliminary SAT) to students in grade 9 and the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) to students in grades 10 and 11 during October.PSAT 8/9 and PSAT/NMSQT are  tests that students take during the regular school day, John Champe’s test date for this year can be found under Upcoming Assessments.

This year, students will take a digital version of the test requiring the use of their LCPS-managed device. The Desmos calculator, which is built into the digital math test, is permitted so students do not need to bring a calculator.

Students attending the Academies will be expected to test on their day of attendance, and students enrolled in Virtual Distance Learning will test at the Academies on October 1, 2024.

Students are required to take the PSAT test at the school to which they are assigned and cannot make up a missed test at another school.

Additional information on the PSAT 8/9 and the PSAT/NMSQT can be found at the College Board PSAT website and the LCPS Office of Assessment website.

The College Board offers the PSAT 8/9 Student Guide Fall 2024 and PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide Fall 2024 for download. These guides will help familiarize test takers with the test, the Bluebook™ testing application, the test structure and rules, preparation strategies, and the scoring process to ensure they know what to expect on test day.
