Yes, Fortnite has been dying, and now, I think its end is quite near, with the addition of Apex Legends, developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts.
Apex Legends is the newest battle royale to be released, with it being released early February this year. It takes place in the same universe as Titanfall, another video game, but not a battle royale, as it is a first person shooter.
Now why has Apex Legends taken over? Well I don’t know all of the reasons personally, but the abilities in the game could contribute to it. Each of the choosable characters have three abilities, with one being passive, and two being active abilities. This helps to contribute to a unique style of gameplay for players.
Apex Legends also doesn’t always feel like a battle royale, which can be good because everyone is kind of sick of them. We’ve been playing Fortnite for so long, and PUBG even longer. Blackout is alright, but many new battle royales just seem to try and get on the wave. Apex has a nice artstyle, between realistic and cartoonish. It reminds me of a balance between PUBG and Fortnite, because there is weapon customization, but it doesn’t feel quite as serious as PUBG.

Apex has some neat changes to it which I’ve never seen in a battle royale. One addition is that a team of players can jump out together, with one person controlling them unless the other players break off. This is a great addition, and I’m glad to see something like this. One really unorthodox addition is that after someone has died, they can be respawned. It’s not overpowered, as you have to recover a “banner” from your teammates body, and bring it to a respawn point, which are spaced out good distances from each other. This makes it so that if one or two people die, they don’t have to wait a while to get back in for the next game, because they can continue playing in the new game. Unfortunately and fortunately, you need to recollect loot, and you don’t spawn in with your items.
One thing Apex has been heavily criticized for is that guns do too little damage, or that people have too much health/armor. This can be balanced easily, but we have yet to see what the developers do. I do agree with this point of criticism, as it does make fighting quite weird at times, but it’s bearable.
Apex is overall a pretty fun game, but I don’t think it’ll last as long as Fortnite has. I don’t know what the next wave of popular video games will be like, because battle royales are best with friends, but not so good alone. I hope we get more games with better single player experiences, but that’s just me. See you guys in the next post.
I feel like this is the first Battle Royale to put in hero shooter elements in correctly and have satisfying gunplay unlike Realm Royale for example. Also Fortnite is dying they are doing a promotion if you do some certain challenges the next battle pass is free.
Yeah I totally agree. I’ve heard about the promotion, but I haven’t played Fortnite in a while, and I don’t plan to in the future. It was a good game in seasons 2 and 3, and even 4, but it is dying now.
I like the implementation of it not FEELING like a BR, but rather an open-world shooter. Makes it accessible to newer people but also difficult to win. Now if only you would play it with me and we don’t get 2nd place

I like the sliding mechanics and ziplines. Allows for easy mobility.
That’s true, but I wish Wraith’s abilities were a bit better, so mobility would be better for Wraith people.
Apex itself seems to feel fluid when you play with a controller. The also seems to fluctuate as well. Noce Post, can’t wait to see more updates for this game.
That’s true, but the only thing that isn’t smooth about it is damage, in my opinion.
Love this game. I think Apex is the real deal, but I will say Battle Royale games are not as fun as they used to be.
True, the concept has really been washed out. I’m starting to like solo open world games more.
That is actually false. DO the quick maths and statistics fam. 2+2=4-1 that is 3 quick maths. This research leads me to the undeniable fact that FORTNITE still has more players and has more of a competitive seen. Fortnite is not dead yet. The only factor that is going against the game is time. Sure the fortnite base moved to Apex for a little bit to try it out as a battle royale game. I bet if it was not a battle royale game it would not have gotten as popular. This bar for having a high expectation for battle Royale games comes from fortnite. In conclusion fortnite is not dead. it is more alive than Apex currently.
Fortnite wasn’t even the first popular battle royale, H1Z1 or PUBG was. They set the bar. “Apex Legends has now been played by over 25 million people in the first week of its release.” 8.3 million play Fortnite right now. Fortnite is dead comparatively. Bruh
