Sad Movies

In the pitch-black darkness of a room,

Basking in the blue glow from a tv,

I watch with the people around me

Another (supposedly) sad movie.

When I was young and saw them die,

I had laughed when others cried.

What losers you are,

I would mock.

Soon my bite became just talk.

My heart turned soft like a baked potato,

And each sad movie took a bite.

My eyes weep when watching movie screens now,

Even when I hold them back with my might.

I gut out tissue boxes when I see

A little child missing their dead family.

My heart sends a pang as I watch

Star-crossed lovers miss a chance to meet.

I was at the theater, watching a movie.

I hear a snicker and turn to witness

A little child laughing at me in the finale.

I was stunned, and then laughed too.

For you see,

I say,

I once also had laughed like you.
