To celebrate International Breast Cancer Awareness Day, students and staff at ACL dressed up in pink! With outfits ranging from pink shirts to feather boas, the variations were endless. During lunch, they gathered on the field to create a pink ribbon, which was captured by a drone camera. T-shirts were sold by the SCA during the weeks prior, and carnations were sold the morning of, with all proceeds going to the Loudoun Breast Health Network.
Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in women in the U.S., with about 1 in every 8 women developing it in their lifetime. Although a majority of these women will survive, many have trouble recovering financially after months of paying for treatment. The Loudoun Breast Health Network uses these donations to help women diagnosed with breast cancer in our community.
