ACL Fall Plant Sale

The ACL Fall Plant Sale is here! Go down to the Greenhouses to see what plants are available this season, from pansies to mums, cabbage and kale, perennials, trees, and more!

Environmental Plant Science and Biotechnology students held their first of three ACL Plant Sales September 24-26. Environmental Plant Science students are earning 12 DE credits in Horticulture this year and began applying their textbook knowledge of plant physiology, plant systems and environmental issues to hands on applications in the greenhouse. They grew pansies and transplanted and maintained other plants for the Fall Sale. Biotechnology students also learned about plant and greenhouse systems and how they could be utilized in their coursework and research. Both classes had opportunity to engage the general public, staff and ACL students, demonstrating their workplace readiness skills and customer service. Proceeds go towards scholarships for the EPS and Biotech seniors.
Students are already gearing up for the ACL Holiday Plant Sale December 4-6, growing poinsettias and other plants as well as preparing fresh floral arrangements and greenery. Students make valuable contacts at these sales that often lead to jobs, scholarships and internships with businesses, industry and professionals who attend and support the sales.
