When Freshmen Fly: AOS IS9 iFly Trip

AOS freshmen take their annual field trip to iFly for their physics unit in Integrated Science classes. The goal of the field trip was to get real life experience with the drag force—air resistance. The students calculated their theoretical terminal velocity by approximating their body’s “frontal area” and they determined how accurate their predictions were by climbing into the wind tunnel, where they were able to experience what it was like to skydive, all while learning! The students were discussing free fall and kinematics in class.
