The Academies of Loudoun enthusiastically celebrated International Dot Day on September 15th and 16th. This celebration advocates for creativity, courage, and collaboration and began when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot on September 15, 2009. It’s the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark.” By making a small mark on paper, she begins the breakthrough journey of self-discovery and finds her own inner courage and confidence. This inspiring book has transformed teaching and learning around the world as people young or old rediscover the power and potential of creativity in all they do.
