ACL Excels at DECA Conference

Students at the Academies of Loudoun are always pushing the bounds of excellence, as evidenced by their outstanding achievements at the DECA International Career Development Conference! DECA, short for the Distributive Education Clubs of America, aims to prepare students for a career in business and marketing. The program serves students at the high school and college level. AET Entrepreneurship students work closely with DECA, while other Academies students are involved with the students through their home schools. 

The DECA International Career Development Conference took place from April 22 to April 26, 2022 in Atlanta, Georgia. 

The Academies of Loudoun students who placed at the conference are listed below. 

Business Finance Series: 

Arjun Setty (AET), Top 20 overall finalist, top 10 exam

Entrepreneurship Series: 

Raaga Kodali (AET),  8th place in the world, top 10 exam

Financial Counseling:

Pavan Ananthakrishnan (AOS), 8th place in the world

Financial Operations Research:

Rohan Misra (AOS), Top 20 overall finalist

Shruta Thum (AOS), Top 20 overall finalist

Integrated Marketing Campaign – Service:

Khushi Gandhi (AOS), Top 20 overall finalist

Dhiya Srikanth (AOS), Top 20 overall finalist

International Business Plan:

Pranav Goteti (AOS), Top 20 overall finalist

Aarav Sharma (AOS), Top 20 overall finalist

Virginia DECA State Officer Elect 2022-2023:

Raaga Kodali (AET), VP Region 1

Rohan Misra (AOS), VP at Large

 

When asked about her experience at the conference and with DECA in general, AOS senior Khushi Gandhi, who placed in the Integrated Marketing Campaign – Service category, stated, “It has given me an opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals and experience the real-life implications of the business world.”
